A nursing opportunity is available for an RN with expertise in MS Stroke Stepdown care. This contract position requires strong clinical skills tailored to adult patients recovering from stroke and related medical conditions. The role involves delivering high-quality care in a specialized unit supporting patients with complex needs such as altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, and pulmonary concerns.

Location:This role is based in Canastota, NY, a community offering a welcoming atmosphere and convenient access to regional amenities. Canastota provides a comfortable, small-town environment with proximity to larger cities for additional cultural and recreational opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled nursing care to adults in an MS Stroke Stepdown unit.
  • Monitor and manage patients with conditions including stroke recovery, renal dialysis, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and other medical issues.
  • Utilize specialty equipment such as IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Participate in floating assignments as needed to support unit operations.
  • Adhere to unit protocols and infection control practices, including isolation procedures.

Qualifications or Desired Experience:

  • Active New York RN license with all credentials verified.
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in MS Stroke Stepdown nursing.
  • Current AHA BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
  • Documentation of travel nursing experience preferred.
  • Drivers license with matching address for demographic requirements.
  • Ability to provide a skills checklist that matches specialty.
  • Reliable communication and readiness to work flexible schedules including night shifts (6:30 p.m. 7:00 a.m.).

Schedule/Hours:

  • Evening to overnight shifts, with block scheduling as available (not guaranteed).
