Position Overview

The Academy Instructor (1099 Contractor – Seasonal) supports the Winter Driving Academy Experience as an independent contractor. In this role, instructors deliver specialized coaching in snow and ice driving techniques, share insights on tire technology, and teach fundamental vehicle dynamics. This position involves hands-on guest instruction, course setup and maintenance, and ensuring all vehicles are properly prepared before and after each session. Contractors are expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, education, and premium guest experience throughout the winter program.

Day rate: $400–$475, commensurate with experience.

Scope of Work

  • Provide professional, engaging coaching on winter driving techniques for guests of varying skill levels.
  • Educate participants on tire performance, technology, and safe winter driving practices.
  • Assist with course setup, layout changes, vehicle staging, and daily safety checks.
  • Inspect the driving course regularly to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Prepare assigned vehicles prior to each event, including fueling, warm-up, and function checks.
  • Reset, clean, and inspect vehicles following each session for readiness.
  • Serve as a spotter and safety coach during on-course sessions.
  • Collaborate with the Site Manager and team members to support seamless event operations.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in ice and snow driving with proven coaching or instructional skills.
  • Working knowledge of tire behavior and performance characteristics.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; capable of adjusting instruction to various learning styles.
  • Practical, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt in dynamic field conditions.
  • Physically able to work outdoors in cold environments and perform manual setup tasks.
  • Familiarity with vehicle staging and detailing processes preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before season start).

Preferred Background

  • Professional driving, coaching, or motorsport experience.
  • Experience in performance or low-traction environments.
  • Prior guest-facing or instructional background in driving or motorsport settings.
