Job Title: Pathologist Assistant – Contract
Location: New York, NY 10065
Duration: 11 Weeks
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (45-minute break)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay Rate: $65 – $71/hour (Based on experience)
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a qualified Pathologist Assistant for an 11-week contract assignment within a high-volume Surgical Pathology Department at a leading academic medical center in New York, NY. This role supports pathologists in the preparation, examination, and documentation of surgical specimens while maintaining strict quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens

Accurately describe, dissect, and submit tissue sections for histologic processing

Assist with frozen section preparation and intraoperative consultations

Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and documentation

Maintain compliance with laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards

Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives

Collaborate effectively with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and surgical teams

Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the laboratory information system
Qualifications

New York State Licensure as a Pathologist Assistant (Required)

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

OR equivalent program as determined by the NYS Education Department

OR Bachelor’s or higher degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program

0–3 years of related pathology experience (Required)

ASCP certification (Preferred)

Fellow of the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (Preferred)

Strong knowledge of surgical pathology procedures and laboratory standards

Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
