Overview of Position: Security Officers are responsible for the safety and security of the employees and guests at Windham Mountain Club and its contracted Homeowner Associations and related business facilities. This includes monitoring, protecting, and securing the physical facilities and other tangible assets of the resort. They conduct security patrols of the grounds and properties, including buildings. Windham Mountain Club Security Officers will intervene in situations with guests and staff as necessary and assist all resort divisions, managers, employees, visitors, and guests in any other assignments when available to do so.
Job Duties: The list below best represents the general nature and level of work performed; it is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and tasks.
- Perform resort wide and residential safety and security services for community members including guests, staff, and residents, as well as for Windham Mountain Club’s physical properties, while instilling a sense of safety and security on a 24/7/365 basis.
- Maintain Security presence via vehicle and foot patrols to prevent, deter, and respond to safety and criminal incidents and efficiently secure resort facilities and properties as well as contracted residential neighborhoods.
- Serve as first responder in the event of criminal, fire, medical and safety hazard incidents while providing assistance to professional emergency responders.
- Perform dedicated safety and security services for special events including concerts, weddings, competitions, etc.
- Investigate and create detailed and complete reports on all manner of security and resort activities, assists, and complaints or activities including criminal and non-criminal concerns.
- Provide security for the movement of money to, from, and throughout resort properties.
- Administrate various Fire and Burglar alarm systems, physical security systems, access control systems, video surveillance systems, and other Security related activities.
- Spot check various areas of Windham Mountain Club property several times during the work shift on a consistent yet unpredictable time schedule.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance as outlined in department policy, wearing issued uniforms as instructed and approved.
- Uniforms are provided except for boots, belts, and gloves.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay Rate – the advertised pay range for Security Officers shall be $22.00 per hour to $28.00 per hour.
- Applicants who are not certified, fully trained, and experienced as NY State Security Guards prior to the time of hire may be hired at a probationary training rate of $20.00 per hours until all portions of NY State Security Guard training requirements as well as internal Office of Safety and Security training, probationary, and performance review requirements are met.
- Security Officers may be considered to be either Full-Time Year-Round or Part-Time year round employees of Windham Mountain Club as is deemed necessary by the Chief Security Officer for the proper and efficient staffing of the Office of Safety and Security.
- As a Full-time Year-Round employee, benefits and conditions of employment shall be governed and afforded by the policies of Windham Mountain Club Human Resources and by the internal policies of the Officer of Safety and Security.

Job Qualifications:
- Possess or be able to obtain an active NY Security Guard License upon hire and maintain this license during their period of employment.
- Applicants who are not already licensed by NY State as Security Guards will receive certification training through the WMC Security Guard Training School upon hire.
- Possess a valid US Driver License and a driving record that is deemed acceptable by the vehicle insurer for Windham Mountain Club.
- Must be alert, reliable, truthful, honest, polite, steadfast, attentive and able to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience writing technical reports and/or public safety documents preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, listening, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Must be comfortable interacting with all manner of staff, residents, owners, and guests in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Ability to keep calm in stressful, noisy, and crowded situations, and able to maintain professional conduct in dynamic and ever-changing environments.
- Must be able to fulfill a variety of shifts and work periods, including days, evenings, and overnight shifts. Team members may also be required to work weekdays, weekends, holiday periods, and special events.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours
- Must be able to safely walk, climb, and navigate uneven terrain with snow and ice-covered hills and surfaces
- Must be able to work outdoors in adverse winter weather conditions for extended periods
- Must be able to push, pull, stoop, kneel, squat, and reach regularly
- Must be able to regularly climb stairs and ladders
