Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field, active Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification, and 1+ years Deaf & Hard of Hearing Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A teaching opportunity is available for an educator specializing in working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing at an elementary school setting. This is a contract position for the Extended School Year (ESY) program.
Location:
- Bay Shore, NY
Duration:
- Immediate start through August 15
Schedule:
- 5 hours per week
- Flexible scheduling with the ability to choose the day to work
- 10 hours owed from previous arrangements can be made up within the given timeframe
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate with school staff and families to support student progress
- Monitor student performance and adjust teaching methods as needed
Qualifications:
- Certification or significant experience teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Strong munication skills and ability to create an inclusive learning environment
- Ability to maintain flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the program
