We are in search of a Part-time Dental Sterilization Technician to come and join our team. We are a dedicated and caring dental practice helping and serving the community by taking care of their oral health. Experience in a dental/medical office is a plus!

The Dental Sterilization Technician assists in performance of quality clinical dentistry by preparing operatories and sterilizing or disinfecting clinical equipment. The Dental Sterilization Technician will also assist the dentist, dental hygienist, and dental assistants with sterilization of instruments and with chairside dental assisting in accordance with the training we provide.

Responsibilities: (this is not inclusive to all tasks)

  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatories before and after patient use.
  • Appropriately select/use correct cleaning method (manual or mechanical) and cleaning chemicals required for each item.
  • Accurately load/unload and operate ultrasonic cleaners, autoclaves, etc. to ensure items are clean and safe for handling.
  • Keep hand pieces properly maintained. Ensure that vacuum lines, unit, chair, light, instruments, and tray set ups are thoroughly disinfected and properly sterilized at all times
  • Assist with setting up instrument trays and prepare materials for patients treated by the dentist or dental hygienist.
  • Ensure rooms are properly equipped and stocked with inventory.
  • Comply with State and Federal OSHA laws, infection control, safety standards in the dental office and operatory, including but not limited to wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) barriers such as gloves, gowns, and eyewear; disinfecting and sterilizing instruments and treatment areas; and disposing properly of contaminated or bio-hazardous waste/materials.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
  • Take high-quality digital and/or film dental X-rays as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Ensure patient safety during radiographic procedures, including the proper use of lead aprons and thyroid collars.
  • Follow all state laws regarding dental radiography certification and exposure limits.
  • Upload, label, and store radiographic images in patient records accurately.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a dental, medical, or other health-care office, preferred
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills and a positive attitude
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
