Job DescriptionDirect Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking an experienced Real Estate Counsel to join its New York office.Position Overview
This is a premier opportunity for a seasoned real estate attorney (8–10 years of experience) to work on high-value transactions across retail, office, and industrial asset classes. The ideal candidate will have significant leasing and transactional experience, representing landlords, tenants, buyers, and sellers. The role is based onsite in the firm’s New York office.
Key Responsibilities

Handle all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, leasing, and dispositions

Draft and negotiate lease agreements, purchase and sale contracts, and related documentation

Advise a broad range of clients, including landlords and tenants, on complex leasing matters

Collaborate with internal legal teams, brokers, and external counsel to ensure timely closings and favorable outcomes

Provide strategic guidance on land use and regulatory compliance
Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school

Active member of the New York State Bar

8–10 years of relevant experience in real estate law, with a strong focus on leasing

Experience in the retail industry and commercial real estate a plus

Excellent legal writing, communication, and analytical skills

Ability to manage multiple transactions independently in a fast-paced environment
Compensation
-
Salary range: $275,000 – $305,000 (New York market)

Final compensation will reflect experience, location, certifications, and market demand
