Job DescriptionOverview:
A rapidly growing home care organization is seeking an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to support regulatory compliance, contract management, policy development, and risk mitigation.
This role includes regular travel to agency offices and partner locations across NYC boroughs and regional sites to support audits, training, investigations, and operational reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal guidance on state and federal regulations impacting home care operations
• Draft, review, and negotiate service agreements, vendor contracts, HR policies, and corporate documents
• Conduct compliance audits, internal reviews, and site visits
• Support response to DOH, OMIG, Medicaid/Medicare audits, and regulatory inquiries
• Advise leadership on risk, ethics, licensure, and employment law matters
• Oversee incident reporting, grievance handling, dispute resolution, and corrective action planning
• Develop and deliver compliance training to on-site staff and managers
• Work cross-functionally with HR, operations, finance, and clinical leadership
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) and active NY State Bar license required
2–5+ years of healthcare, regulatory, or employment law experience (home care / long-term care strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of NYDOH, OMIG, HIPAA, Medicaid, and managed care compliance
Ability to travel regularly to branch offices and agency locations
Exceptional communication, analytical, and documentation skills
Preferred Attributes:
