The Welder is responsible for performing high-precision brazing operations on metal components, ensuring strong, leak-proof joints that meet industry and company standards. This role requires deep knowledge of brazing techniques, metallurgy, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with torch, furnace, or induction brazing and a strong attention to detail.
- Brazing Operations:
- Perform brazing on various metals and alloys using appropriate techniques (torch, furnace, induction).
- Prepare surfaces and apply fluxes to ensure optimal joint quality.
- Quality Assurance:
- Inspect brazed joints for strength, integrity, and compliance with specifications.
- Conduct leak tests and visual inspections using appropriate tools.
- Process Optimization:
- Recommend improvements to brazing processes and tooling.
- Collaborate with engineering to refine brazing procedures and parameters.
- Provide process improvement relating to safety and assembly.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain brazing equipment and ensure proper calibration and cleanliness.
- Report and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols related to high-temperature operations and hazardous materials.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, ISO).
Requirements:
- High school diploma or technical certification; associate degree in welding or metallurgy preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in brazing or related metal joining processes.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
- Strong understanding of metallurgy and heat treatment principles.
- Experience with HVAC, aerospace, or electronics components is a plus.
Preferred Attributes:
- Certification in brazing or welding (e.g., AWS B2.2/B2.1).
- Familiarity with automated brazing systems.
- Ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
- Background in HVAC Mechanical Installation
