Job Description

Pride Health is hiring a Patient Care Associate to support our client’s medical facility based in East Elmhurst, NJ – 11370 - 1381. This is a 3-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!


Job Title: Patient Care Associate

Location: East Elmhurst, NY – 11370-1381.

Pay Range: $23.00/hr to $28.00/hr

Shift: 5 SHIFTS EACH WEEK 8A-4P; EVERY OTHER WEEKEND IS REQURED

Duration: 03 Months (Contract) with possible extension


Key Responsibilities:


1.Vital Signs & Initial Assessment

  • Checks and records vital signs.
  • Weighs and measures patients.
  • Conducts patient interviews to obtain routine personal and medical history.

2.Specimen Collection & Testing

  • Instructs patients on proper specimen collection procedures.
  • Collects and prepares specimens for laboratory testing, including dipstick and hemoccult screening.
  • Performs venipuncture and fingerstick to obtain blood samples.
  • Performs simple urinalysis, vision, and hearing tests.

3.Emergency & Basic Care

  • Administers emergency first aid and basic life support (BLS).
  • Provides basic wound care: dressing changes, bandaging, and wound irrigation.

4.Assisting with Medical Procedures

  • Prepares patients and examination rooms for provider assessment.
  • Assists healthcare providers during examinations.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment.

5.Diagnostic Equipment Operation

  • Operates electrocardiograph (EKG/ECG) equipment.

Administrative Responsibilities

1.Patient Communication & Education

  • Informs and educates patients on preparation for medical tests and procedures.
  • Answers routine patient inquiries and makes referrals as needed.
  • Educates patients and families on health care services and safe living practices.

2.Recordkeeping

  • Maintains and processes patient charts and documentation.
  • Prepares laboratory requisitions and handles pick-up of lab results.

3.Scheduling & Coordination

  • Coordinates appointments using manual and/or automated systems.
  • Escorts patients to other departments or facilities.

4.Inventory & Team Support

  • Maintains medical supply inventory and equipment.
  • Participates in team-based care delivery and helps train new staff.


Requirements:


High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

2 years of Med/Surg experience required

AHA BLS

Completion of a NYS Department of Health prescribed training program for Phlebotomy, satisfactory to the Laboratory Director

Completion of a health care setting-based training program in the performance of electrocardiographs
