🏗️ Industry: Mechanical Contracting – Heavy Mechanical Piping & Industrial Systems
About the Role
My client are a premier mechanical contractor based in NYC, specializing in large-scale mechanical systems for infrastructure, industrial and LNG projects. Their core expertise includes heavy piping, boiler systems, and complex mechanical installations. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Drafter / Detailer to support their design and construction teams with high-quality drafting and detailing services.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for piping systems, boilers, and mechanical equipment using AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Develop fabrication and installation drawings based on engineering designs, field conditions, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to ensure accuracy and constructability of designs.
- Conduct site visits to gather field measurements and verify existing conditions.
- Assist in BIM coordination and clash detection with other trades.
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with NYC building codes, ASME standards, and internal QA/QC procedures.
- Support documentation processes including RFIs, submittals, and as-built drawings.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting/detailing, preferably in industrial or large commercial projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with Navisworks and BIM 360 is a plus.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping layouts, and fabrication practices.
- Familiarity with NYC construction codes and industry standards.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and field data.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with point cloud data and laser scanning.
- Knowledge of shop fabrication and field installation workflows.
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
