We're currently seeking a skilled Bread Baker with a strong foundation in Italian breads and some experience with classic Italian pastries.
Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be passionate about Italian baking, particularly traditional bread-making techniques such as slow fermentation, natural starters, and hand shaping. A working knowledge of pastries—like biscotti, crostate, or cannoli—is a plus. You’ll help bring the heart of Italy to our customers each day through the quality and authenticity of your work.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, mix, proof, and bake a variety of traditional Italian breads (e.g., ciabatta, focaccia, pane pugliese, pane rustico).
- Assist in the preparation and baking of Italian pastries and cookies (e.g., biscotti, cornetti, sfogliatelle).
- Monitor dough fermentation and adjust processes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized baking station, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Work from traditional recipes while also contributing ideas for seasonal or regional specialties.
- Collaborate with the bakery team to fulfill daily production targets and special orders.
- Occasionally assist with packaging and display setup.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience baking artisan bread—especially Italian-style—is required.
- Familiarity with Italian pastries or a willingness to learn is highly preferred.
- Understanding of fermentation, hand shaping, and baking with traditional ovens.
- Able to follow authentic Italian recipes and maintain high product consistency.
- Strong attention to detail and time management.
- Ability to work early mornings and stand for extended periods.
- Team player with a passion for Italian food culture.
