We’re currently searching for a Director of Asset Management with expertise in multifamily student housing to join a growing real estate investment company in New York.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a high-performing student housing portfolio and help guide asset management and operational strategy at a firm that’s more than tripled its assets in the past five years. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and bring deep experience driving value to student housing assets through budget/expense controls, innovative pricing strategies, and capital improvement projects.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of asset management responsibilities for a 30-property portfolio

  • Oversee property performance, conduct financial analysis, and drive asset-level strategy

  • Collaborate with on-site teams to improve operations and address issues proactively

  • Conduct regular site visits (approx. 5 days/month) to ensure property excellence

  • Partner closely with acquisitions, operations, and investment teams

  • Complete property-level case studies and financial reviews using internal Excel models

  • Serve as a key liaison for internal stakeholders and external investment partners

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of operational leadership experience for multifamily student housing properties

  • Detailed understanding of property-level operations and what it takes to drive results

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with agility to take on evolving responsibilities

  • Willingness to travel to visit properties at least 5 days per month

  • Bachelor’s degree required; finance, real estate, or related field preferred
