We are seeking a motivated, full-time Entry-Level Field Technician to join our team. This role provides hands-on technical support to our clients on-site in and around the NY Metropolitan Area (NY, NJ, CT). You will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading IT systems and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. You will be the face of LastTech, working directly with clients to resolve their technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
We are looking for an individual who excels in fast-paced environments and can be on call to accept work tickets, respond to inquiries quickly and effectively, and is comfortable being available for after-hours support periodically.
Strong customer service skills are essential for this role, and deep technical knowledge is a plus. Eagerness to learn on the job is a must. No prior experience necessary, but any ability to show your critical thinking and problem solving is a plus. Large opportunity for learning and growth into more senior roles. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, network devices, and peripherals.
- Manage and support VoIP phone systems, copiers, and end-user machines.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure systems operate efficiently.
- Assist in network setup and management, including Wi-Fi, routers, and firewalls.
- Respond to client inquiries, offering timely and effective solutions.
- Train end-users on new technologies and assist in the adoption of IT best practices.
- Collaborate with your team to develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies and IT trends to advise on potential improvements.
- Provide account administration through G-Suite and Microsoft O365.
- Accurately track time and note resolutions through the ConnectWise ticketing system.
- Provide after-hours support periodically.
- Document technical issues and solutions provided.
- Ensure compliance with company safety and quality standards.
About You
- Technical diploma or certification in IT, computer science, or related field; or equivalent practical experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Basic knowledge of networking systems, hardware, and software.
- Working knowledge of MacOS, Windows, iOS, Linux, and Android.
- Valid driver’s license preferred, but not required.
- Willingness to travel locally to client sites.
- Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to work.
- Ability to work autonomously and efficiently.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and be able to support systems and end-users with ease.
- A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, or similar IT credentials preferred, but not required.
