Electrical Estimator – New York Metro

Electrical commercial construction company in the New York City Metro area is seeking for a full-time experienced estimator to work directly with the company owners. An ideal candidate MUST have experience and strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering. Come join our Team!

This is a direct hire position — you will work directly with us, not through a third-party agency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full estimating process for assigned electrical projects, from initial inquiry to final proposal submission
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits (in-person or virtual) to assess project scope and conditions
  • Proven ability to accurately calculate man hours and material costs with a high level of precision
  • Develop comprehensive estimates, including material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Perform detailed quantity take-offs from electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Analyze project risks and opportunities to ensure competitive and accurate pricing
  • Present cost estimates and proposals to both internal teams and external clients
  • Maintain internal cost databases and update historical project data as needed
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and other team members during the estimating process

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8–10 years of experience working as a commercial electrical estimator
  • Strong knowledge of electrical installation methods, systems, components, and industry best practices
  • Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related codes and regulations
  • Proficiency with industry-standard estimating software (such as Accubid, LiveCount, ConEst, or McCormick)
  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical blueprints, specifications, and contract documents
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
