Position Overview
We are seeking a responsible, mature, and compassionate Part-Time Live-In House Parent to provide supervision and support for international high school students residing in a private home in the prestigious Todt Hill neighborhood of Staten Island, NY. The home is within walking distance of Staten Island Academy. For the 2025-2026 academic year, The home will initially welcome five international students, with the potential to accommodate up to eight. This role operates in partnership with another part-time House Parent to ensure consistent supervision and support across daytime, evening, and weekend hours.
Each House Parent receives a private furnished bedroom and shared access to common areas. Utilities are included. Meals are provided during shifts. No additional roommates or guests are permitted to reside in the House Parent's bedroom.
Work Schedule & Coverage Structure
Evening Coverage (Daily): One House Parent provides supervision every day from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM, followed by overnight on-call presence in the house for emergencies.
Weekend Coverage: Weekend days are split into two shifts, with House Parents alternating coverage: • Day Shift: 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM • Evening Shift: 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM + overnight on-call presence
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision and support for high school students in the home
- Conduct evening room checks and uphold house rules
- Be present overnight on-call for emergencies
- Plan and supervise weekend activities and outings
- Transport students to activities and errands (transportation vehicle provided)
- Serve as a culturally sensitive, approachable adult presence
- Maintain communication with program leadership
Qualifications
- Fluent English required; Mandarin Chinese preferred
- Experience with teens, international students, or residential roles preferred
- Calm, reliable, and able to enforce boundaries consistently
- Valid driver's license
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
