Job Description: Registered Vascular Technologist II

Shift: 8 AM - 4:30 PM
Locations: Various locations including Glens Falls, Amsterdam, Hudson, Niskayuna, Saratoga Springs, and Kingston, NY (position may require floating between these locations).

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Registered Vascular Technologist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of noninvasive diagnostic tests to identify vascular diseases and be responsible for reporting findings to medical staff. This role requires skilled clinical assessment, patient care during testing, and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently conduct all vascular testing including reflux studies, visceral examinations, pulse volume recordings (PVR), deep venous thrombosis (DVT) studies, carotid scans, bypass grafts, aortic ultrasounds, vein mappings, and dialysis access scans.
  • Perform patient assessments and document medical and surgical histories as well as presenting symptoms.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and compliance with laboratory-specific policies and protocols.
  • Report findings of diagnostic tests to physicians and hospital staff in a timely manner.
  • Maintain the necessary documentation for tests, including billing CPT and ICD codes for hospital and laboratory records.
  • Care for imaging and vascular equipment, including cleaning and restocking supplies, and report any equipment malfunctions.
  • Proactively seek necessary continuing medical education (CME) to maintain credentials.
  • Provide a safe, positive experience for patients while creating a professional atmosphere.
  • Be available for backup coverage on occasional weekends, holidays, and on-call to support inpatient care.
  • Assist with the training of students, residents, and staff as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Sonography specializing in Vascular Technology with RVT or RVS Certification, or in progress with completion required within one year.
  • Associate degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a general or vascular ultrasound department at an external facility.
  • Proficiency in various vascular studies, including but not limited to:

- Venous Duplex (Upper and Lower Extremity)
- Arterial Bypass (Upper and Lower Extremity)
- Fistula Hemodialysis Graft
- Aortic Grafts and AAA
- Renal Artery Duplex
- Mesenteric Artery Duplex
- Pulse Volume Recording (PVR) (Upper and Lower Extremity)
- Vein Mapping (Upper and Lower Extremity)
- Venous Reflux Duplex for Insufficiencies
- Hepatic-Portal Duplex

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to read and interpret documents and communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to ensure continuity and appropriateness of patient care.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and transport patients and heavy equipment as required.
  • Ability to maintain high-quality imaging skills while adhering to institutional standards and protocols.


Additional Notes:

This position includes the requirement to transport equipment to various patient care areas, including inpatient, ER, and OR units, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
