Job Description

AHRC New York City is seeking Full-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) who have a valid Driver's License and are comfortable driving a small van, for their Adult Day Program in Staten Island.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm (35 hours per week). Upon completion and passing of AHRC NYC Defensive Driving class if driving is needed, hours may vary.

Pay rate: $18 per hour plus a very generous and comprehensive Benefit packet. See additional Benefit information below.

In addition, the following Bonuses are available depending on Programs needs.

  • $2,000 annually upon completion and passing of AHRC Defensive Driving class
  • $2,000 annually upon completion of AMAP training

Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals with disabilities in leading self-directed lives and becoming active members of their communities.
  • The oversight of all safety and health considerations
  • Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies
  • Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs)

Qualifications

  • Valid NY or Tri-State Driver's license, in good standing, required
  • Experience driving a small van a plus.
  • Personal and/or Professional experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • Reasonable flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a working relationship with program participants, families, staff and community agencies.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
