The primary responsibility of the Cage Free Poultry Care Team Leader is assisting the Supervisor in leading work functions in the care of the pullets or layers. This includes assisting with bird moves, vaccinations, feeding, and overseeing the general well-being of the layers and/or pullets. May cover the supervisory duties when needed.

The job responsibilities of the Cage Free Poultry Care Team Leader are:
- Assist in monitoring workers to ensure proper handling of the layers and/or pullets at all times.
- Assist in checkout of cage-free poultry housing systems (Feed, Lights, Air, Water, Sanitation, FLAWS) to ensure that all systems are working properly.
- Assist in ensuring that procedures and processes related to poultry husbandry are being followed.
- Stay knowledgeable on animal health, keep current on accepted practices/methods relating to animal health.
- Lead and assist PCA team members with all poultry care tasks, leading by example.
- Look for ways to improve practices. Share with Layer Manager and/or Site Manager.
- Look for opportunities to improve safety and inform the Supervisor of potential hazards.
- Acts as a team player (supports and encourages co-workers); treats management, co-workers, and employees with respect.
- Assist in monitoring all records for mortality and task checklists, keeping paperwork up-to-date, and ordering supplies as needed. Enter data into Unitas.
- May assist with bird weighing, and moving birds when necessary. Schedule appropriate help for those tasks.
- Assist in monitoring AEI/PMSI/Pulse control systems.
- May be responsible for responding to alarms.
- Assist in working with processing in monitoring/controlling egg flow.
- Assist maintenance with minor tasks in houses (depending on mechanical aptitude/skills).
- Keep information boards in breakrooms and wellness corners up-to-date (assist with communication with employees).
