We are located on the beautiful barrier beach of Fire Island, where travel to work is by ferry and your commute is worry free as you enjoy the tranquil ride across the Great South Bay to Fire Island Pines, where we have a reputation for diversity and are welcoming of all.
Fire Island Pines is the largest residential community on Fire Island and includes some 600 homes and 100 co-ops. Our community has a population as high as 5,000 in the summer and about 50 in winter. Residents, renters, and guests all come here to enjoy, relax, and have fun.
With over 400 members, FIPPOA (Fire Island Pines Property Owners Association), a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization, is led by elected officers and a board of directors who oversee the operations of the community and help protect the fragile ecosystem of a barrier island. Our other organization, The Pines Foundation (TPF), is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity organization which raises critical funds for our local Pines programs and projects that make our community thrive, including our word famous annual event, the Pines Party. In addition, TPF provides grants to our long-time beneficiaries - Stonewall Community Foundation and Seashore Defense Fund and manages our endowment.

Qualifications:
- Must be a team player and be able to work independently
- Outgoing with good customer service skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently on select projects
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to roll up sleeves and get the job done
- Able to work weekends, weekdays and some holidays with a flexible schedule
- Uniform polo shirts (provided), kaki pants or shorts and sneakers required
- Prior boating knowledge and boater safety certificate preferred and considered first
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the Harbormaster with various projects
- Assist boaters and visitors of harbor
- Assisting arriving and departing boats (including tying and un-tying)
- Meet every ferry and provide directional service to ferry passengers
- Reservation taking and credit card payment processing
- General maintenance (power washing, sweeping, cleanup, etc)
- Inbound and outboard boat and fright dock monitoring
- Helping out with community events
