Job Title: X-Ray Technician (Contract)
Location: New York, NY 10019
Job Type: Contract
Hourly Pay: $60- $63(hourly)
Shift: Days
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours/day, Monday–Friday)
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate radiologic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic-quality images.
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting appropriate exposure factors.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
- Practice radiation safety techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, including use of shielding and beam-restrictive devices.
- Maintain image quality by following established radiographic standards and procedures.
- Process, review, and verify completed exams for accuracy and quality.
- Document patient care and imaging services in patient and departmental records.
- Perform routine equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and report equipment malfunctions as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in accordance with infection control and safety policies.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain required CME and regulatory competencies.
- Complete annual age-specific competency requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, technologists, and clinical staff to support patient care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology (required).
- Current New York State Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) (required).
- ARRT Certification (required).
- Competency in performing diagnostic X-ray procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team-based clinical environment.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently when needed.
- Recent X-ray technologist experience preferred (per manager request).
