Position Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: NY/NJ (Hybrid – On-site/Remote as Directed)
Client: Port Authority of NY & NJ – Engineering Department, Quality Assurance Division
Consultant: CM-COM (Certified MBE/DBE/SBE)
Position Type: Full-Time (40 Hours/Week) – One-Year Contract
Compensation Range: $70–$105/hour (W2 )
Anticipated Start Date: September 8, 2025 (subject to change)

Position Overview:
CMCOM invites qualified Electrical Engineers to join our team on a key infrastructure consulting engagement. As a consultant providing engineering support services to the Port Authority, CMCOM will deploy the selected candidate to serve within the Engineering Department’s Design Standards Unit (DSU). The position focuses on peer reviewing Tenant Alteration Applications (TAA), including medium-voltage systems and other critical electrical design elements.

CMCOM Assignment Scope:
CMCOM is seeking resumes for one Electrical Engineer to support the Design Standards Unit as part of our consultant contract. The role involves working on-site and/or remotely as directed. Responsibilities include reviewing electrical design documents (above 600 volts), performing design audits, and ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and Port Authority technical standards. Key tasks include assessing TAA submissions, validating load calculations, preparing technical memoranda, coordinating interdisciplinary reviews, and engaging with tenant architects/engineers and facility staff.

Expanded Responsibilities at CMCOM:

  • Review tenant electrical designs for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance
  • Analyze medium-voltage system configurations, arc flash studies, and UPS/load coordination
  • Track reviews and comments via e-Builder, Bluebeam, and SharePoint
  • Coordinate with agencies like FDNY, FAA, and NYC DOB
  • Participate in design resolution meetings and stakeholder briefings

Minimum Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical design/code compliance experience
  • Familiarity with medium voltage systems, fire alarms, cathodic protection, and RF
  • Proficiency in NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards, and NYC Electrical Code
  • P.E. license in NY and/or NJ (Required)
  • Skilled in MS Office, Adobe, Trimble, and technical platforms

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience with the Port Authority TAA process or similar agency work
  • OSHA 30/NFPA 70E Certification
  • Familiarity with SKM, ETAP, AutoCAD MEP, and collaboration tools
  • Infrastructure experience in terminals, airports, and tunnels
  • P.E. license in NY and/or NJ (Preferred)

Security & Compliance:

  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
  • Must complete Port Authority NDA and background screening
