Title: LGBTQ+ Coalition Manager

Location: Bronx, NY

FLSA Status:  Full Time (35 hours) Exempt

Role Summary: The Coalition Manager will lead a community coalition dedicated to reducing early initiation of substance use among LGBTQ+ youth and LGBTQ+ youth of color by creating safe and affirming communities across NYC. This position plays a crucial role in coordinating coalition activities, managing staff, and ensuring the successful implementation of coalition initiatives. 

Primary Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Lead and coordinate a multi-sector community coalition focused on reducing early substance use among LGBTQ+ youth, ensuring alignment with grant goals and community needs.
  • Facilitate regular coalition meetings, maintain strong stakeholder relationships, and supervise the LGBTQ+ Peer Youth Specialist.
  • Develop and implement annual community assessments, analyze data, and prepare reports for the NYC Department of Health.
  • Oversee the execution of coalition initiatives, including knowledge-building activities and efforts to improve access to prevention resources for LGBTQ+ youth.
  • Manage program documentation, track meeting attendance, and ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards.
  • Represent the coalition in strategic planning sessions and other relevant forums, and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple NYC sites as needed.

Work Environment / Schedule Requirements:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position. While standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, exempt employees are expected to work the hours necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on organizational needs, deadlines, or events. 
  • May be required to work shifts, including evenings or night tours and/or Saturdays, Sundays and holidays with holiday pay differential.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or related field 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in community coalition building or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and BIPOC communities
  • Strong understanding of substance use prevention strategies
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Proven experience in team management and staff supervision.
  • Self-directed and solutions oriented.
  • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English for administrative purposes.
  • Must pass drug screening to be appointed.
  • This position may be subject to a series of investigations before and after appointment.
