Job Summary

Forestdale is committed to providing opportunities for the youth in the Strong Futures program to have academic and employment success and connections to caring adults serving as mentors and role models. The Education Supervisor of Strong Futures/Youth Services is one of the leaders of the Strong Futures team that works collaboratively with the Education Specialists and other staff to ensure that the youth are encouraged and supported toward productive self-sufficient lives. S/He is responsible for the academic and social development of the youth in the program.


Major Responsibilities/Activities

• Promote a youth development philosophy and framework.

• Supervise Education/Youth Development Specialists and BSW/MSW interns.

• Assist in evaluating current educational advocacy procedures and assist in implementing new procedures that will improve educational outcomes for youth.

• Monitor and track all educational progress of youth ages 4-26.

• Conduct Education Assessments.

• Facilitate workshops.

• Oversee monthly tutoring billing.

• Coordinate and oversee college tours.

• Accompany youth to recreational activities in and around the NY metropolitan area.

• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Case Conference process and identified Family Team Conferences to assure case progress, holistic casework approach, and facilitate staff/client learning as needed.

• Assist the department in coordination of special events (departmental and agency-wide).

• Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

• Master of Social Work or equivalent human services graduate degree.

• Travel to Forest Hills campus 1-2x per week; Brooklyn site to be the homebase.

• Proficiency in Excel and data management.

• At least 3 years of documented supervisory and relevant experience.

• An understanding and respect for community needs and cultures.

• A belief that change is possible.

• Able to maintain healthy boundaries.

• Able to remain calm during moments of tension and stress.

• Exemplary organizational skills.

• Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Ability to travel in and around the metropolitan New York City region.

• Successfully meet the required background checks.

• Education experience and knowledge (i.e. IEPs, CPSE, facilitating school transfers, etc.) a plus.

• Ability to speak and read another language a plus.


Salary Range:

Masters: $65,000 to $73,000

Masters / Language: $67,000 to $75,000

Masters / License: $70,000 to $78,000

Masters / License / Language: $72,000 to $80,000
