About the Role

The Field Service Engineer – Medical & Industrial Systems (New York) is a hands-on, field-based role responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical equipment in hospital, laboratory, and industrial environments.

This position is not an IT or help desk role. Work is performed on-site and involves physical interaction with equipment, including installation, preventative maintenance, and repair activities. Candidates seeking remote, software-focused, or desktop IT positions will not be a fit.

The role requires independence, strong troubleshooting ability, and comfort working directly with customers in regulated environments. Extensive travel is a core requirement of this position.

Compensation, Schedule & Travel

  • Pay Range: $24.00 – $29.00 per hour (DOE)

  • Employment Type: Full-time, non-exempt

  • Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, daytime hours

  • On-Call: Participation in an on-call rotation for urgent service needs may be required

  • Travel Requirement: Approximately 80% travel, primarily regional with overnight stays as needed

  • Coverage Area: New York-based field coverage (home-based when not traveling)

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and maintain medical and industrial electro-mechanical equipment

  • Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs per manufacturer documentation

  • Troubleshoot systems to the FRU level using standard service tools

  • Support customers on-site and clearly explain technical findings and actions

  • Maintain accurate service documentation and reports

  • Coordinate parts usage, replacements, and shipments

  • Participate in on-call rotation and support urgent service needs

  • Follow all safety, quality, and compliance requirements in regulated environments

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical background in electronics, electro-mechanical systems, biomedical equipment, or industrial maintenance

  • Hands-on field service experience with electro-mechanical equipment

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems independently

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to ~80%)

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to rent a vehicle

(Bachelor’s degree not required if equivalent hands-on experience is demonstrated)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in hospitals, laboratories, or regulated industrial environments

  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and service documentation

  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters and related test equipment

  • Knowledge of FDA, ISO, or OSHA-regulated environments

  • Medical device, imaging, or industrial equipment exposure

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, crawl, and work on equipment for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, assisted or unassisted

  • Comfort working in hospitals, labs, factories, and other regulated environments
