Job Summary

The Manufacturing Floater supports multiple production areas including Deburring, Visual Inspection, and Wash by performing assigned tasks to ensure aerospace and defense components meet strict quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role requires flexibility, strong attention to detail, and adherence to company procedures and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

Deburring

  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from machined parts using hand tools, power tools, or automated equipment
  • Ensure parts meet engineering drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards
  • Handle precision aerospace components carefully to prevent damage


Visual Inspection

  • Perform detailed visual inspections of in-process and finished parts to identify defects such as scratches, dents, contamination, or surface irregularities
  • Verify part conformity to drawings, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Accurately document inspection results and report nonconforming conditions


Wash / Cleaning Operations

  • Clean parts using approved wash processes, equipment, and chemicals per work instructions
  • Ensure parts are free of contaminants prior to inspection, assembly, or shipment
  • Follow environmental, safety, and handling requirements for wash operations


General Responsibilities

  • Float between departments as needed to support production schedules and priorities
  • Follow all AS9100, customer, and internal quality system requirements
  • Maintain traceability, part identification, and proper documentation
  • Adhere to safety policies, PPE requirements, and clean work practices
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and 5S activities
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, quality, and production teams


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Manufacturing experience preferred; aerospace or defense experience a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Familiarity with deburring tools, visual inspection standards, or parts washing processes preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain documentation accuracy
  • Willingness and ability to be cross-trained in multiple departments


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work on the production floor for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move parts and materials (typically up to 25–40 lbs)
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work
  • Visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for inspection tasks


Work Environment

  • Aerospace and defense manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to machinery, tools, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise levels
  • May require shift work or overtime based on production demands
