The Lab Technician is responsible for overseeing day-to-day quality operations on the production lines, ensuring compliance with food safety, food quality, sanitation, and batching systems. This role demands adherence to regulatory requirements and company objectives while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices, wearing required personal protective equipment in warehouse or production areas.
- Ensure food quality and safety standards provided by corporate, customer, and governing bodies are followed.
- Verify that all products meet customer specifications using the SAP system.
- Perform analysis on raw materials, finished batches, treated water, and other outlined program requirements.
- Conduct chemical and physical analysis on raw and intermediate processing materials, including packaging materials, to determine their status.
- Evaluate finished products against current standards by performing audits to monitor all aspects of product and packaging integrity.
- Assess process control parameters to assure proper equipment application and operation, including secure seal, closure torque, and can seam checks.
- Stop any production with questionable Food Safety and alert management immediately.
- Maintain accurate and legible records of all tests and retests performed, completing required reports timely.
- Perform analytical tests to qualify ingredient batches for production.
- Conduct production line checks at specified intervals.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly operated and calibrated for accurate test results.
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness at all times.
- Report all out-of-specification results to designated leadership.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by leadership.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in quality control, chemistry, laboratory work, biology, and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of medical laboratory practices, microbiology, and GMP standards.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and SAP.
- Exposure to measurement tools and equipment like calipers, micrometers, and CMM machines.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.
- High precision and accuracy in inspection and testing processes.
- Familiarity with SQF, SAP, Six Sigma, GMP, and other relevant standards.
- Understanding of Food Safety Requirements.
- Ability to read and understand metric system.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Food or beverage laboratory experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing environment preferred.
Work Environment
This role operates in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts. The noise levels require hearing protection, and temperatures can vary from very hot to relatively cold, though the laboratory is temperature-controlled. The environment is structured and supervised.

This is a Permanent position based out of Dunkirk, New York.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38480.00 - $38480.00/yr.
