Position Summary
The Housing Resource & Navigation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and families—particularly people of color—who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness. This role combines client-centered case management with housing systems navigation, crisis response, and cross-agency collaboration. The specialist serves as a compassionate advocate and liaison between clients, housing providers, and community partners to promote access to safe, stable, and affirming housing options.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct housing assessments and develop individualized housing plans tailored to client needs

Assist clients in identifying, applying for, and securing affordable, safe housing

Provide crisis support and coordinate emergency shelter access as needed

Advocate for clients facing discrimination or other housing barriers, including support with tenant rights

Build and maintain partnerships with landlords, shelters, housing programs, and supportive service providers

Refer clients to wraparound services, including employment, legal assistance, healthcare, and financial literacy resources

Maintain accurate case documentation and enter data into appropriate internal systems and databases

Participate in community education and outreach activities to promote housing equity and IOOV’s services
Qualifications
Required:
-
Bachelor’s degree required; BSW or degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Human Services a plus

Minimum of 2 years of experience working with LGBTQ+ communities, especially LGBTQ+ people of color

Demonstrated knowledge of housing systems, tenant rights, and fair housing laws

Strong crisis management, organizational, and communication skills

High level of cultural humility and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Preferred:

Experience in housing case management or navigation

Familiarity with local housing programs, HMIS systems, and community-based resources

Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
