Job Summary:
Will be responsible for production of low and high-volume production jobs. These jobs have tight tolerance and are complex in nature. The employee will train under close supervision of qualified operators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all day-to-day work in the production optics lab
- Ensures daily quota of production runs are met.
- Package and ship optical components.
- Operate equipment to manufacture high volume production parts.
- Clean and visually inspect diamond turned lenses.
- Inspect lenses using metrology equipment.
- Record inspection data, labor hours and job information as required.
- Clean and maintain machines and metrology equipment as required.
- Accountable for quality of all workmanship on finished parts.
- Machine adjustment and program parameter changes to maintain lens tolerance.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Will be responsible for proper execution of production SOP in full.
Additional Responsibilities:
- May be required to work in various areas of operations when necessary.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or listen. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred experience in optical manufacturing or completion in Optical Systems Technology program.
- Proficient in visually inspecting optical components and using metrology tools to ensure adherence to tight tolerances.
- Familiarity with the principles of optics and the impact of precision and tolerance on optical performance.
- Able to work with various computer software programs.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precision in manufacturing and inspection tasks.
- Must be a good team player.
