Job Description

We are partnering with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm seeking a Senior Project Manager or Senior-Level Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in the New York metro area.


This is a senior-facing role with a strong mix of technical leadership, project management, and client interaction, supporting complex land development, infrastructure, and construction projects. The position offers exposure to high-profile work, collaboration with experienced technical leaders, and a clear path for continued career growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage geotechnical projects from proposal through delivery, including scope, budget, and schedule control
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, specifications, construction plans, and recommendations
  • Design foundations, retaining walls, excavation support systems, and other geotechnical elements
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project staff
  • Support excavation design and advanced analyses (e.g., finite element modeling)
  • Coordinate and oversee subsurface investigations and construction observations
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and budget expectations


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering (Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field required)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Strong background in geotechnical investigations, reporting, and construction inspection
  • Hands-on experience with earthwork, pile foundations (driven/drilled), load testing, retaining walls, ground improvement, and excavation support systems
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software such as gINT, PLAXIS, LPILE, SLIDE/SLOPE-W, GRLWEAP, MSEW, and SHAKE (or similar)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead projects independently while collaborating within a team environment
  • Willingness to perform occasional field work and attend client or job site meetings
