Location: Lehman College Olympic-size pool, 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, The Bronx NY.
Functional Job Title: Lifeguard (Hourly), salary: $18 per hour
Functional Job Title: Water Safety Instructor (Hourly), salary $40.45 per hour
Status: Part-time
Schedule: Must have a flexible schedule to work daytime (ie., 4X per week 2-6:00pm) shifts

General Description
Lehman College Continuing Education is seeking responsible and experienced individuals to join our team as part-time Water Safety Instructors or Lifeguards for our summer camp program.

Lifeguards: You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of students in our aquatic facility by actively patrolling the pool area, enforcing safety regulations, and responding to emergencies. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about water safety and providing excellent customer service.

Water Safety Instructors: You will provide swimming skills and water safety instruction; enforce water safety rules and regulations; perform rescues and administer first aid as needed; take attendance and report student progress in our database in a timely manner; interact with parents/guardians; inspect pool area before class for maintenance, cleanliness or damages and report issue to pool management; maintain proper storage of pool equipment; and report incidents/accidents. Additional duty for summer camp: assess swimming ability of each camper prior to participation in aquatic activities.

Qualifications

• Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or Lifeguard Certification or equivalent
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification (must be issued within 1 year of obtaining certification)
• Prior lifeguarding experience

Preferred

• Excellent swimming skills and physical fitness
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years’ experience as a lifeguard or swimming instructor
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
