Position Summary
The Director of Engineering leads the strategic and operational direction of the engineering department within a dynamic contract manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving innovation, ensuring manufacturability, and optimizing engineering processes to meet client specifications, regulatory standards, and production goals. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with deep technical expertise and a passion for continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop and execute the engineering roadmap aligned with company growth and client needs.
· Drive system based solutions for engineering processes for redundancy and coverage.
· Represent the company as technical interface with clients.
· Function as continuous improvement lead for the Company.
· Define and implement world class standards for work instructions and quality control plans and implement companywide.
· Develop, train and guide engineering personnel to achieve company engineering goals.
· Ensure timely and cost-effective execution of engineering projects.
· Identify and implement KPIs to drive thruput improvement for engineering releases to the shop floor.
· Serve as a technical liaison with clients, translating requirements into manufacturable solutions.
· Partner with operations, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless production.
· Support business development with technical input during client onboarding and quoting.
· Serve as resident expert and set standard expectations for all manufacturing engineers to achieve identified outcomes.
· Ensure engineering practices comply with ISO, FDA, and other relevant standards.
· Oversee documentation including process flows, work instructions, and validation protocols.
· Evaluate and implement new technologies, automation, and digital tools to enhance capabilities.
· Lead and instruct others on continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production processes.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Position Qualifications
· Bachelors degree in Engineering or related discipline is a plus
· 10 plus years of experience in hands on machining (mills and lathes)
· 3+ years of experience in Project Management.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office.

· Capable of participating in cross-functional settings and working with support functions, manufacturing, quality engineer, and facilities.
· Support cost reduction & continual improvement activities.
· Analyze raw data and generate usable reports.
· Knowledge of print reading and understanding of common GD&T practices.
· Knowledge of materials and their chemical and physical properties.
