Shift & Scheduling Details

• Shift: Night Shift

• Schedule: 4 × 12-hour shifts

• Shift Time: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday, as needed

• Block Scheduling: Not available

• Requested Time Off (RTO): Must be submitted at time of submission

• Call-Off Policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled during the 13-week contract without charge

• First-Time Travelers: Accepted

• Local Candidate Policy: RN candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius

Role Overview

The Registered Nurse – PCU provides intermediate-level nursing care to adult and geriatric patients requiring close monitoring and advanced clinical support. This role supports patients transitioning from critical care or those requiring stepdown-level observation and intervention.

Required Licensure & Certifications

• Active New York State RN license (single state; pending licenses not accepted)

• BLS (required)

• ACLS (required)

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) (required)

Required Clinical Skills

• Progressive Care / Stepdown-level nursing (PCU / IMC / DOU)

• Telemetry monitoring and rhythm interpretation

• Identification and management of cardiac dysrhythmias

• Rapid Response and Code Team participation

• Oxygen delivery systems and non-invasive airway management

• Management of cardiac drips (non-titrating)

• Blood product administration

• Central and peripheral line care and management

• IV therapy and phlebotomy

• Infection control and isolation precautions

Patient Population & Unit Details

• Ratios: 1:4–5

• Population: Adult and Geriatric

• Common Diagnoses:

  • Pulmonary conditions requiring long-term monitoring

  • ENT surgical recovery

  • Post-surgical patients requiring stepdown-level care

• Scrub Color: Navy blue and/or white

Documentation & Systems

• Electronic Charting: EPIC experience required
