Job Description

Job DescriptionEssential Functions:

  • Designated back-up in absence of the Manufacturing Engineer/Technical Manager to process/complete required tasks.
  • Performs material and strap tests in accordance with documented standards and work instructions.
  • Maintains static, dynamic and flame testing equipment and facilities (including computer software/hardware).
  • Creates and updates required testing work instructions.
  • Prepares material for certificates of conformance.
  • Generates and maintains test reports.
  • Maintains records of all quality activities as documented in LOPs and test methods for ISO 9001 & 17025.
  • Handles samples and performs analysis according to LOPs and test methods for ISO 9001 & 17025.
  • Reports deficiencies or malfunction to the Engineering Manager/Design Engineer of Straps II, Manufacturing Engineer/Technical Manager, and/or Vice President-General Manager/Design Engineer.
  • Identifies, records, and corrects nonconformities on Corrective Action Requests and potential nonconformities on Preventative Action Requests.
  • Improves laboratory and/or quality activities on a continuous basis.
  • All Team Members of Sturges shall know and understand all safety, human resource, and quality policies, including the procedures, work instructions applicable to their position, and how their goals relate to the success of the company.

Education & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required, Associates Degree or higher preferred.
  • Mechanical background preferred.
  • Experience writing technical documents such as test reports and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of statistics as well as the ability to identify shifts, trends, and abnormalities in data.
  • Must be able to read measuring instruments.
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and willing to be flexible.
  • Must be able to distinguish between colors.
  • This position is deemed a safety sensitive position always requiring alertness.
  • Able to read, write and fluently communicate in English.
