Job Description
Job DescriptionStep into the operating room as an OR Tech in Plattsburgh, NY, beginning 12/15/2025 for a multi‑week assignment. In this essential perioperative role, your expertise with sterile technique, instrument handling, and patient safety will directly influence outcomes and patient experience. You’ll join a collaborative surgical services team that prizes precision, composure under pressure, and proactive problem‑solving. This opportunity not only strengthens your hands‑on capabilities in a high‑stakes setting, but also opens doors to broader experiences across the country through our travel program, delivering exposure to diverse facilities, specialties, and patient populations. While you support outstanding cases, you can also savor the beauty of upstate New York—from the Adirondack mountains to serene lakefronts near Lake Champlain—and enjoy a lifestyle that blends professional purpose with outdoor adventure and small‑town charm. Start Date: 12/15/2025. Duration: Weeks. Weekly pay: $2,277‑$2,401. Guaranteed Hours: 0.0.
Location benefits: Plattsburgh provides a welcoming community, accessible outdoor recreation, and a practical cost of living that supports your long‑term goals. You’ll enjoy a balance of city‑quality health care resources and the warmth of a resilient regional community, with easy access to regional hospitals, universities, dining, arts, and leisure. For travelers who want broader horizons, we offer opportunities to work at partner facilities across the United States, enabling you to sharpen clinical judgment in varied perioperative environments, while expanding your professional network and personal resilience. Rotations across locations can enhance adaptability, expand the range of procedures you encounter, and deepen your collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams. When you’re off duty, you can explore the region’s natural beauty, or venture to nearby cities for cultural events, dining, and seasonal festivals that reflect upstate New York’s vibrant character.
Role specifics and benefits: The OR Tech will assist with all phases of perioperative care. Key responsibilities include pre‑op patient preparation, maintaining sterile fields, instrument and equipment readiness, passing instruments to surgeons, retracting and suctioning as needed, patient positioning and draping, counts of sponges and sharps, intraoperative assistance, specimen handling, turnover between cases, and meticulous documentation. You’ll partner with surgeons, surgical technologists, nurses, and anesthesia providers to support safe, efficient cases and patient comfort. The role offers clear pathways for professional growth—cross‑training in subspecialty areas, mentorship from experienced perioperative teams, and opportunities to extend assignments in higher‑acuity ORs. Benefits are competitive and designed to acknowledge your skills: a weekly pay range of $2,277–$2,401, potential signing bonus where applicable, housing assistance, and extension opportunities to fit your career timeline. In addition, you’ll have access to comprehensive support, including 24/7 assistance while traveling with the company, travel coordination, and on‑site staffing support to ensure you’re never navigating a shift alone.
Company values: Our organization is built on empowering our staff, nurturing career advancement, and fostering a supportive, inclusive work environment. We believe in ongoing learning, constructive feedback, and transparent communication to help you reach new levels of expertise. You’ll be encouraged to take ownership of your professional trajectory, while receiving the resources and mentorship needed to excel in surgical settings and to contribute meaningfully to patient care.
