The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to ensure efficient operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups.
- Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc.
- Accurately and promptly perform data entry of patient information.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy.
- Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and ensure proper labeling.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Process billing information and collect payments when necessary.
- Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
- Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
- Provide superior customer service to all patients.
- Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
Essential Skills
- Phlebotomy skills, including blood draw and specimen processing.
- Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection.
- Phlebotomy certification is welcomed but not required.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience, with at least 6 months performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with medical, laboratory, pediatric, and geriatric environments.
- Skills in using butterfly needles and drawing blood.
- Healthcare.
Work Environment
The position is located near Utica, NY, with working hours from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The role includes rotating Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The work is conducted in a fast-paced lab setting, and candidates will be part of a large national company, providing opportunities for long-term employment. This is a contract-to-permanent role situated in one of the prime doctors' offices in New York.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
