Position Summary We're seeking a dynamic Quality Manager or Director to champion our client’s commitment to excellence. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Quality Lab, quality inspection department and providing ongoing oversight and improvement of the quality management system. This role is key in driving quality initiatives across our precision manufacturing operations, ensuring we consistently exceed the exacting standards of our aerospace and advanced manufacturing customers. You'll lead a skilled quality team while fostering a company-wide culture of continuous improvement and unwavering commitment to quality.
Job Responsibilities:
- Audit company policies, procedures, and systems that affect product quality to assure compliance with the company’s quality system and good manufacturing processes.
- Establish and implement product and process quality standards while remaining in compliance with ISO9001, AS9100 and NADCAP requirements.
- Mentor and develop team members within our visual inspection room, fostering a culture of precision and continuous improvement.
- Manage internal and external audit programs and develop quality documentation policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve product problems by analyzing quality data trends and developing a meaningful solution.
- Serve as the point of contact for all technical quality related matters.
- Serve as a key member on daily MRB meetings, updating staff on the day’s task list and any corrective action items.
- Create and track meaningful quality metrics and KPIs.
- Manage customer quality requirements and specifications.
- Review all outgoing POs from outside service providers.
- Oversee analytical work completed at each step of the production process to ensure that quality control standards are maintained.
- Optimize inspection processes and drive reduction in non-conformances.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or a related technical field required.
- A minimum of 5+ years of progressive quality leadership experience within a precision manufacturing environment—aerospace industry experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing cross-functional quality teams, including oversight of Quality Engineers (5), Application Engineers (2), Quality Inspectors (2), and Visual Inspectors, within a regulated, high-precision production environment.
- Deep technical aptitude with the ability to write and troubleshoot CNC programs, and a strong working knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, PartMaker, and MasterCAM.
- Advanced understanding of tight tolerances, GD&T, and ability to read, interpret, and validate complex engineering blueprints.
- Proven expertise maintaining and driving AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications, with a hands-on approach to leading audits, compliance, and documentation across departments.
- Strong record of leading and implementing quality improvement initiatives, reducing defects, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to articulate expectations clearly, processes, and corrective actions across teams.
- Highly analytical with exceptional problem-solving and root cause analysis skills using industry tools such as 8D, FMEA, and SPC.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and modern QMS software platforms.
- Solid foundation in machine shop theory, inspection methods, and advanced metrology tools.
- Must be able to prioritize effectively, multitask in a dynamic environment, and lead teams in achieving both tactical and strategic quality goals.
