Role Overview
The Supervising Mechanical Engineer serves as a senior technical and project leadership resource, overseeing mechanical system design and execution across complex projects. This role blends advanced mechanical engineering expertise with project management, mentorship, and cross-disciplinary coordination to ensure high-quality project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership

Represent mechanical engineering in coordination with contractors, architects, and key stakeholders.

Support project planning, staffing, scheduling, and budget development.
Mechanical Engineering & Design
-
Lead mechanical system design using CAD/BIM tools and perform detailed engineering calculations.

Define system applications, operational sequences, and design parameters.

Ensure coordination between mechanical designs and other engineering disciplines.
Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight

Oversee QA/QC processes for assigned projects.

Review and provide redline markups on work produced by junior engineers and CAD/BIM staff.

Provide technical guidance and resolve complex engineering challenges.
Construction Administration

Conduct site visits, inspections, and prepare field observation reports.

Review RFIs, change orders, bulletins, and addenda.

Develop construction cost estimates using Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) methodologies.
Team Leadership & Development

Mentor CAD/BIM designers and engineering staff.

Assist with performance reviews and staff development initiatives.

Contribute to proposals, presentations, and professional organizations.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

12+ years of experience in consulting engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP.

Expertise with mechanical design and engineering calculation software.

Strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Ability to interpret architectural drawings and visualize complex 3D systems.

Experience with SKM software, including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies.
