Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Inpatient Surgery unit, specializing in a variety of medical and surgical procedures. This unit features a layout designed for efficiency, with two nurses' stations ensuring optimal communication and oversight. Our facility prioritizes patient care and provides an excellent support system to meet the diverse needs of post-operative patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient demographic, including post-operative patients requiring pain management, IV medications, and wound care.
- Conduct frequent assessments, including vital signs, intake and output, and pain assessments.
- Administer medications and perform treatments such as dressing changes, wound vac management, and IV insertion.
- Manage a patient load with a maximum nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1 to ensure quality care and attention.
- Collaborate with a diverse team, including charge nurses and nursing assistants, to maintain a smooth workflow and enhance patient outcomes.
Requirements:
- Active RN licensure.
- Completion of the Health Streams Course Bundle for Infusion Nursing prior to starting in the infusion room.
- Proven experience with infusions, transfusions, and IV insertion.
- Current BLS certification.
- Competency in central line accessing and deaccessing is required.
Patient Population:
The unit serves a wide range of patients, commonly treating conditions related to:
- Post-operative care
- Urology
- Neurology
- Bariatric surgery
- Plastic surgery
- Orthopedic surgery
- Mixed acute medical conditions
Technology and Equipment:
Familiarity with advanced monitoring systems, bedside monitoring devices, and patient care management software (EPIC) will enhance success in this role.
Additional Information:
- This is a fast-paced environment requiring effective time management skills and adaptability.
