Job Description

Job DescriptionStep into a pivotal role as a Sterile Processing Tech in Rochester, New York, where precision, patient safety, and operational excellence converge to ensure every surgical procedure proceeds with flawless sterility. In this position you will safeguard sterile practices from decontamination through the final sterile storage, enabling clinicians to deliver exceptional care with confidence. This is more than a job—it's a chance to shape outcomes, contribute to a resilient health system, and experience the distinctive energy of upstate New York, from the scenic shores of the Finger Lakes to the vibrant neighborhoods that celebrate culture, cuisine, and outdoor adventures all year round. Imagine the pride of supporting life-changing procedures while enjoying a region renowned for its natural beauty, universities, museums, and a welcoming community spirit.

Location benefits abound. Working in Rochester offers a thriving medical ecosystem, renowned hospitals, and a patient-centered culture that values teamwork and process excellence. You’ll benefit from a stable urban base with easy access to parks, riverside trails, and the cultural richness of a growing city. Additionally, this opportunity opens doors to assignments across the United States, letting you experience a spectrum of facilities—from academic medical centers to community hospitals—each with its own instrumentation, protocols, and workflow. This exposure broadens your skill set, strengthens your professional resumé, and builds a versatile foundation for future advancement. Rochester itself blends historic charm with modern amenities: a lively downtown, craft breweries, world-class dining, and ample opportunities for relaxation after demanding shifts. It’s a locale that supports a healthy work–life balance while honoring the essential role sterile processing plays in patient care.

Role specifics and growth are at the heart of this assignment. You will perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of a wide array of instruments and devices, ensuring every kit is complete, functional, and traceable. Your responsibilities include instrument decontamination, load packaging, sterilizer operation (steam, EtO or alternative modalities as applicable), washer-disinfector use, and rigorous quality checks to verify cycle success, chemical indicators, and documentation accuracy. You’ll maintain meticulous logs for lot control, instrument tracking, and storage conditions, adhering to AAMI, JCAHO, OSHA, and hospital policies. You’ll collaborate with OR teams, central supply, and procurement to optimize turnover times, minimize delays, and support optimal patient flow. There is ample room for professional growth—whether pursuing CSPDT or CRCST certification, expanding knowledge of sterilization technologies, or taking on process-improvement projects that enhance safety and efficiency. The role also invites cross-training opportunities across related sterile services functions, enabling you to broaden your expertise and earn recognition within a dynamic hospital system.

Benefits and incentives reinforce your commitment. Along with competitive weekly pay ranging from $1,031 to $1,134, you’ll find a suite of support designed for traveling professionals: a sign-on or retention bonus where permitted, housing assistance to ease relocation or temporary lodging, and potential contract extensions that recognize reliability and performance. You’ll have access to a robust support network, including 24/7 assistance from our dedicated travel-support team to help with housing, travel logistics, on-site accommodations, and emergency needs. This structure ensures you can focus on your responsibilities with the confidence that assistance is available whenever you need it. The combination of structured pay, predictable rotation opportunities, and professional development paths makes this assignment a compelling step in your career trajectory.

Company values center on empowerment, growth, and a supportive work environment. We are committed to elevating sterile processing professionals by providing clear pathways for advancement, ongoing training, mentorship, and a culture that prioritizes safety, integrity, and teamwork. Our approach respects your expertise, supports work-life balance where possible, and encourages you to take ownership of your professional journey within a collaborative, patient-centered framework.
