Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. a private, non-for-profit health and human service agency located in Auburn, NY has a Full Time Therapist position for our Haven Program. The purpose of the Therapist is to provide clinical assessments and direct therapeutic services to children from youth up to age 23 who have experienced a traumatic event. The Therapist collaborates with other program staff and advocates as appropriate to assure that clients receive effective coordinated services. Services will be provided in an office setting as well as in schools, home and other community locations as appropriate.
Therapists will use their skills to:
- Perform assessments of clients referred to therapy.
- Provide short-term, long-term, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based therapy modalities.
- Identify the modality that will best meet the presenting needs of the child and make recommendations. Modalities that will be provided through this program include Trauma-Focused Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Expanded Early Pathways for Young Traumatized Children, Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention and Parent Child Interaction Therapy.
- Be part of the Multi- Disciplinary Team, attend meetings and provide information about trauma and its effects on children.
- Attend case review meetings weekly, provide input on progress and adjust treatment plan as appropriate.
- Participate in staff meetings, clinical supervision and staff development activities.
- Maintain timely and appropriate documentation and record keeping.
- Participate in staff development activities, in-service training and committees as appropriate.
- Consult with program staff to assure effective coordinated service delivery.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements include:
- A Master's degree in a mental health related field (Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy)
- NYS licensure or a limited permit is required.
- Knowledge of child development and awareness of trauma and traumatic stress and treatment interventions preferred.
- Experience serving victim of crime preferred
