Job Title: Physical Therapist – Float (Inpatient & Outpatient)
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience + sign-on bonus up to $15,000
Location: Southern Finger Lakes region, New York State (multi-site float role)
Work Model: Onsite / Float between nearby facilities

Role Summary
Our client, a well-established healthcare organization in New York State, is seeking a Physical Therapist for a float position supporting multiple nearby facilities within the southern Finger Lakes region. This full-time role includes both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities and offers strong long-term stability, relocation assistance, and fast hiring feedback. The Physical Therapist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality rehabilitative care across diverse patient populations.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement individualized physical therapy treatment programs in accordance with professional standards.
Review therapy referrals and perform comprehensive patient evaluations.
Develop corrective exercise and treatment plans, adjusting interventions based on patient progress.
Administer therapeutic modalities including exercise, gait training, soft tissue techniques, heat/cold therapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, and related interventions.
Educate patients on therapeutic programs and proper use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, braces, and prosthetics.
Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
Prepare and maintain accurate clinical documentation, including evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Provide guidance and support to therapy assistants and support staff as assigned.
Assist with departmental quality initiatives, equipment care, and supply maintenance.
Adhere to organizational policies related to safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
Participate in meetings, committees, and required educational programs.
Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations.
Assume senior therapist responsibilities when required.
Required Qualifications
Licensed or license-eligible to practice Physical Therapy in New York State at the time of hire.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and patient-centered approach.
Ability to work across multiple clinical environments in a float capacity.
Commitment to safety, quality care, and professional standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in a hospital-based physical therapy setting.
Experience working in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation environments.
Certifications
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical activity, including lifting:
At least 30 pounds independently.
Up to 150 pounds with assistance.
Exposure Category II role with potential for occasional higher-risk tasks.
Adherence to universal precautions and infection control standards.
