Job Description
Job DescriptionDescription: Why this role existsWe deliver in-building wireless (DAS), small-cell, and network integration projects that require on-site RF expertise for surveys, install & turn-up, optimization, and acceptance testing—often in active facilities (healthcare, enterprise campuses, carrier COs) where precision, safety, and documentation are critical.
What you’ll do (key outcomes)
- Own on-site RF work: perform pre-integration site surveys; validate head-end/POI equipment; confirm fiber/RF connectivity; and plan the “last-mile” details for successful turn-up. ?
- Install & integrate radio interfaces and DAS components (e.g., Radios, jumpers, POI connections), coordinate power/fiber, and complete on-site configuration for go-live. ?
- Execute RF testing: line sweeps, return loss/VSWR, PIM, and over the air performance checks; interpret results and drive corrective actions to hit pass/fail criteria. ?
- Optimize and troubleshoot live systems; collaborate with tower/field crews to resolve issues efficiently and safely.
- Document relentlessly: produce pre-/post-integration reports, annotated photos, speed-test captures, and close-out packages that stand up to customer audits. ?
- Coordinate materials/BOM with project leads as needed (e.g., grounding hardware, RF terminations, jumpers) to keep site work unblocked. ?
Requirements:
What you’ll bring (minimum qualifications)
- 2+ years in RF field work (DAS, small cell, or macro), including hands-on terminations & testing with PIM/line sweep tools and interpretation of VSWR/return-loss data. ?
- Working knowledge of DAS head-end/POI architecture, RF jumpers/connectors, and fiber hygiene and validation practices. ?
- Ability to read MOPs, one-lines, and test plans; strong documentation habits for customer-ready deliverables. ?
- Comfortable collaborating with field crews and following established jobsite safety practices.
- Ability to perform, interpret, and post-process scanner and test phone tests.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within UPNY or OH markets (overnight travel as needed).
Nice to have
- OEM or carrier certifications related to DAS. ?
- Experience preparing BOMs/material requests (e.g., grounding kits, RF terminations) and coordinating with supply chain.
- Familiarity with acceptance criteria/checklists used in RF standards. ?
- Comfort working in customer environments like hospitals, malls, campuses, or carrier central offices.
Work & travel
- Work split: ~50% in the field / ~50% office or remote.
- Field presence: ~50% (site surveys, install/integration, testing, optimization).
- Core markets: Upstate NY and Ohio; occasional travel to adjacent markets by project assignment.
- Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility for off-hours cutovers when required.
Tools & environment you’ll use
- RF analyzers for line sweep/return-loss and PIM testing; fiber inspection/cleaning kits; standard RF jumpers and connectors; DAS head-end/POI equipment; structured reports and close-out templates consistent with our pre-integration and acceptance workflows.
