Job DescriptionApex Therapeutic Services is a primary provider of Related Services to hundreds of schools in the New York City Department of Education. We provide Speech Language Pathologists to schools across the 5 boroughs of New York City. For more specific caseload information please apply and our team will contact you right away for the 2023-2024 school year. Rate per hour starting at $75.00+New York City Department of Education Placements Various Locations in NYC Responsibilities of the Speech Therapist: School Setting

  • Position will oversee full/partial caseloads.
  • The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - will work with students exhibiting the full range of communication disorders, including those involving language, articulation (speech sound disorders), fluency, voice/resonance, and swallowing.
  • Assessment of each student's disabilities having an impact on the education of students; then plan to address personal, social/emotional, academic, and vocational needs that have an impact on the attainment of each student's individual educational goals.
  • Contribute to the literacy achievement of students with communication disorders, including students who are at risk for school failure, or those who may struggle in the school setting.
  • Supporting the needs of students with significant challenges, helping to determine methods for alternate learning.
  • The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will be helping to identify long-term goals for appropriate post-school outcomes.
  • Helping to plan relevant instructional activities for ongoing implementation in the classroom.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and training in its use.
  • Enter student/session data into SESIS.

Requirements of the Speech Language Pathologist- School Setting

  • Must be licensed in NYS as Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Must have TSSLD
  • Cannot be currently working for the Department of Education DOE. Candidates who are eligible for this position must be retired from the Department of Education for a minimum of 12 months.
