About the Company: An established General Contractor who specializes in delivering high-quality commercial construction services to some of the largest retailers, developers, and businesses across the nation is seeking a seasoned Construction Estimator to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in commercial construction estimating, a proactive and detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to manage multiple bids and timelines efficiently.
About the Role: You’ll play a critical role in preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring competitive, well-documented proposals are submitted on time.
Responsibilities:
- Retrieve bid packages and plans; organize all files on the estimating server.
- Complete Estimating Checklists and update the bid board regularly.
- Coordinate weekly updates and communicate status of open bids.
- Review and incorporate all landlord requirements and subcontractor preferences.
- Ensure timely bid invitations are sent (within 24–48 hours of bid package receipt).
- Schedule and attend site visits during the bid process.
- Break down trades and scope to ensure full coverage for all pricing.
- Perform takeoffs and unit cost analysis across all trades.
- Thoroughly review plans and specifications to understand scope and generate RFIs.
- Develop value engineering (VE) options and compile detailed budgets.
- Prepare client-facing bid forms and internal scope sheets for each trade.
- Submit estimates on time and ensure clarity, accuracy, and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with Project Managers post-award to align on buyouts, scopes, and budgets.
- Maintain strong notes from weekly estimating meetings to ensure accountability and follow-up.
- Coordinate with subs to review VE options and confirm labor/unit cost assumptions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of construction estimating experience, ideally in commercial interiors, retail construction or related sectors.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Pay range and compensation package:
- Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
