Maintenance
The maintenance person is responsible for maintaining the facility and its grounds including the sidewalk. This position is reported directly to Superintendent. The following listing of activities, task and assignments is not intended to be all inclusive but is intended to reflect a level of performance. The maintenance works closely with the housekeeper.
Responsibilities:
• Maintain the interior of the facility on a daily basis including hallways, program areas, staff offices and lavatories in accordance with good housekeeping practices, safety and prevention of potential hazard.
• Maintain the exterior of the facility (sidewalk) on a daily basis including snow and ice removal and ensuring that the sidewalk is safe and free from hazard.
• Empty trash cans daily and replace plastic liner bags as needed.
• Equip laboratories with paper towels, toilet paper and soap and ensure that lavatories are properly and well equipped with these supplies.
• Properly store garbage and place garbage at curbside in accordance with the sanitation pick-up schedule.
• Maintain compliance with NYC recycling laws.
• As directed by the Residence manager, removed broken furniture and place furniture at curbside in accordance with sanitation pick-up schedule.
• Perform minor repairs including replacement of light bulbs and locks and minor painting.
• Maintain inventory of housekeeping and maintenance supplies and equipment and recommend ordering to the Program Director.
• Prepare reports and be required to maintain job related data and prepare reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain a professional relationship with residents and observe all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• As directed by the Residence Manager, perform minor plumbing repairs in resident apartments, paint, plaster and change locks.
• May transport residents to and from defined locations at the request of the Residence Manager.
• Maintain a monthly log of each daily transport activity including date, hour, mileage, purpose of activity, gas and oil usage, repairs, and other vehicle maintenance-related issues.

• Participate in in-service training as required by the program.
• Maintain the confidentiality of residents at all times.
• Perform related and additional duties assigned by the Residence Manager.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent, a valid and current New York State Driver’s License and experience in apartment maintenance and repair.
