Status: Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $106,000 - $118,000
In accordance with NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018, this salary range applies to roles based in NYC offices.
Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates specialized imaging equipment to support the accurate diagnosis and assessment of patient conditions. Responsibilities include the preparation, measurement, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic procedures, in line with established protocols.
Key Responsibilities

Guides and supports both new and current staff in using departmental systems, equipment, and protocols.

Performs and documents quality control tests and calibrations in compliance with IAC or ACR standards, maintaining organized records for inspections.

Greets and checks in registered patients, escorts them to procedure rooms, and assists with preparation, mobility, and comfort as needed.

Verifies patient identity, reviews medical history and exam requisition prior to performing scans.

Acquires scan images to identify areas of concern; adjusts imaging parameters as needed under direction.

Administers radiopharmaceuticals for resting and stress phases, coordinating image acquisition accordingly.

Performs SPECT and planar scans as ordered; explains procedures to patients and responds to questions throughout.

Processes, archives, and manages scan images per departmental protocols.

Adheres to patient safety guidelines and ensures infection control practices are followed.

Monitors and maintains supplies, equipment, and calibration tools; places orders or escalates needs when necessary.

Participates in ongoing education, conferences, and workshops to stay current with industry standards; shares knowledge with peers.

Obtains and maintains required continuing medical education (CME) credits.

Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice and following established procedures.
Education

Associates Degree required.
Experience
-
At least 2 years of experience as a nuclear medicine technologist.

At least 2 years of CT experience.

Experience in PET QA/QC, including working with physicists to maintain logs and troubleshoot.

Licenses & Certifications

Current New York State License in Radiographic Technology (N).

ARRT (N) certification required; CT certification via ARRT or NMTCB accepted.

BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
Working Conditions

Must occasionally lift equipment and assist patients.

Flexibility in scheduling, including potential weekend shifts, may be required.
