Are you detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and interested in cybersecurity, signals intelligence, or languages? As a Cryptologic Technician (CT) in the U.S. Navy, you’ll work at the heart of intelligence gathering and cyber operations, helping defend the nation by intercepting and analyzing foreign communications, tracking threats, and safeguarding classified information.

You won’t just keep secrets — you’ll help win wars with them.

Job Description:

Cryptologic Technicians are Navy enlisted professionals who specialize in signals intelligence, cyber operations, electronic warfare, and information security. CTs are assigned to ships, aircraft, shore stations, and joint military operations around the world.

Specializations within the CT Community:

  • CTI – Interpretive: Foreign language and translation experts

  • CTT – Technical: Electronic warfare and radar signal analysis

  • CTR – Collection: Signal interception and analysis

  • CTN – Networks: Cybersecurity and digital network defense

  • CTM – Maintenance: Electronic and computer systems maintenance

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Monitoring and analyzing electromagnetic, satellite, or internet-based signals

  • Decoding foreign language communications (CTI)

  • Conducting cyber operations to secure Navy networks (CTN)

  • Operating electronic warfare systems (CTT)

  • Maintaining specialized cryptologic equipment (CTM)

  • Supporting national intelligence and combat operations

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Meet Navy medical and physical standards

Paid Training Includes:

  • “A” School: Advanced technical training for 3–6 months (length depends on CT specialty)
