We’re on the hunt for our next Career Navigator. This integral position is responsible for providing the full complement of client services to job seekers. The Career Navigator provides intake and orientation, assessments to identify skills and matching open positions developed by the employer engagement team. As someone who believes in helping others no matter their background, this individual puts the job seeker first!
The Awesome Things You’ll Do
- Performs intake and orientation sessions 2-3 times daily to job seekers
- Provide assessments to job seekers to ensure that they are assessed for open positions and any training needs are identified
- Reviews resume and other skills assessment to tailor job matching process
- Coordinate closely with the Account Managers to drive assessment and matching to available positions
- Ensures at all job seekers receive excellent customer service
- Track all intake, assessment, referral and relevant data in funder and internal systems
- Provide individual and small group instruction to develop and edit resume and other documentation related to employment placement as needed
- Attend offsite events and training as needed
Our Must Haves
- B.A. or B.S. degree required along with at least one to two years’ experience providing career navigation, case management, vocational counseling, or employment services.
- Prior experience preferred in working with individuals receiving public assistance or those who are experiencing or have experienced substance abuse, homelessness, mental health issues, or have been involved with the justice system.
- Ability to establish rapport, build trust, empower, and provide occupational guidance to youth.
- An understanding of the special needs of an economically and socially disadvantaged population.
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work with diverse populations
- Record-keeping, case noting, HIPAA compliance, and maintaining confidentiality
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including active and reflective listening, motivational interviewing, authentic communication, and conflict resolution
- Highly effective problem-solving and follow up skills
- Ability to focus deadlines and details
- Excellent networking skills
