Degree in Physical Therapy, active Physical Therapist license and 1+ year of Physical Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time physical therapist opportunity is available to support students in both school and home environments within a K-12 setting. This role is based in Far Rockaway, NY, and offers a contract position for the upcoming school year. The physical therapist will collaborate with educators and families to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote motor skills, mobility, and functional independence for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive physical therapy services to students across K-12 grade levels in school and home settings
- Assess student needs through detailed evaluations and develop tailored intervention plans
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student progress and inclusion
- Document therapy sessions, progress, and recommendations in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Participate in team meetings and Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed Physical Therapist with credentials to practice in New York State
- Experience working with children in school-based or pediatric physical therapy settings
- Ability to design effective therapeutic interventions that enhance student participation and learning
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Flexibility to provide therapy services in both school and home environments
